Chapter 1

You see Cordelia took after her mother for most things but one thing in particular was from her father: her love for dectetive work. Her dad was a private dectetive and she had often helped him on his cases.

Cordelia's wavy chestnut hair came from her mum. So did her soft brown eyes which always sparkled with mischeif and could harden to a dark brown if she was angry. Her slim figure also came from her mum.

Cordelia had once solved a mystery all by herself and was always waiting for mysteries to pop up and her was a perfect chance

Chapter 2
                "The Question"
That day at school Cordelia rounded up her best friends, Dianna, Anne, Ruby, Jane and Stacey. She told them about her idea to make a group that solved mysteries. The problem struck when they had to decide on a name.

Stacey wanted "66", Jane wanted "The Detectives", Ruby hated both but couldn't think of her own, Anne wanted something romantic and Dianna wanted something adventourous.

It ended as them deciding on "The Question" which was Cordelia's suggestion because in her veiw they were just answering questions and solving puzzles.

Cordelia told them to meet at her house to discuss everything properly.

That evening at 4pm the first meeting of "The Question" was held. At first everyone was just talking about fashion and flicking through magazines until Cordelia stopped them and they got down to buisness.

Ruby, Dianna, and Anne said that the whole town was in a humongous muddle and and they needed to solve the mystery quickly or it would end up and absolout disaster. The others agreed and set there minds to work.
 

Chapter 3

Cordelia suggested that they look for someone who looked and smelt nice. Stacey said most people would look and smell nice

So they decided to sleep on it and meet the next day at 10am and thta would have happened with no delay if Cordelia hadn't had her "accident."

After "The Question's" meeting had broken up and they had all gone home, Cordelia decided to go and play with the farmyard animals. It was very hot so she decided to go for a swim in the pool. So she grabbed her towel and bathers and ranout to the pool.

After a good swim she got out and started to dry herself when she felt a piercing stab in her leg and as she looked down she saw a humongous Sydney funnel web spider!

It was such a shock to her that she let out a earpeicing scream and collapsed.

Her parents found her in two seconds flat and rushed her to hospital.

When she woke 9 and a half hours later, she found she hooked up to a weird machine and had lots of worried faces around her. When they saw that she had  woken she was immediately squashed flat with hugs and kisses.

She was told a million times that they thought there was no hope.

She was in hospital for a few weeks before she returned home.

Chapter 4
                The Conclusion
When they arrivied at Cordelia's house a few days after she got out of hospital they all crowed round her and showered her with questions but she managed to answer them all before they got down to buisness.

The main prooblem was that Cordelia's brother Peter had a funnel web spider for a pet and the same afternoon that Cordelia got bitten was the same day that Silky (the spider) dissapeared.

Cordelia thiught someone had planted it so she might be put off the case, but hardly anyonr knew she was working on it so they had a problem.

That night in bed Cordelia did some serious thinking when a thought struck her!!!
 

Chapter 5

Also anyone could have been eavesdropping. So she thought back to when they had been deciding the name.

She suddenly remembered that Sam Gloat had been hanging around the meetings. He's also a good friend of her brother so he could have easily nabbed Silky and put her in her towel.

The next day at school Cordelia noticed that Jane had been crying. When Cordelia asked her what was wrong she burst into tears but managied to say that Ruby had been bitten by a snake when she was sleeping and had been rushed to hospital!!!!

Cordelia told Jane about how she suspsected Sam Gloat and Jane said she agreed with her Because she could remember Ruby saying something about Sam and his family were going to be there for tea.
 

Chapter 6

After a bit of talk Cordelia annouced that she thought that everyone should be very, very, very careful because the pranks were getting quite dangerous.

Everyone agreed and soon after he town slowly went back to it's normal self but the pranks kept on coming.

"The Question" thought that the person who had stole the town's beaty and smells had decided to let them go but was angry at "The Question" for trying to solve the mystery.

The next prank came in three weeks after Ruby had recovered from the snake bite.

The Question was making a pile of sticks and paper for a bonfire. They knocked of for lunch which took an hour.

When they'd made their lunchs and had just started to eat they heard Bill, the shedman, scream out to them. They rushed outside to discover the bonfire alight and heading for the sheds!!!!
 

Chapter 7
               The Battle
They all rushed to various hoses from around the sheds and started to put the fire out while they waited for the fire brigade to arrive.

When the fire brigade did arrive the fire was out of control and had burnt down the sheds and was dangerously close to the house!!

Finally after two hours it was and the wind had changed so it hadn’t burnt the house.

Afterward The Question called a meeting to discuss the matter.

Ruby was sure that the she’d seen Sam Gloat hanging around eying the bonfire and looking like he was waiting for us to disappear.

Cordelia decided to call Mrs Gloat and see were Sam was.
 

Chapter 8
                The Desicion
When Cordelia got off the phone she said that Mrs Gloat had sent Sam on an errand to Mr and Mrs Pupple who lived next door to Cordelia

Stacey said that things weren’t looking very good for Sam.   Everyone agreed and decided to keep their eyes open for Sam because if he is the right person he should be stopped and even if he isn’t he should have an explanation for hanging around.

Jane  and Stacey were taking their weekly walk when as they went down the steps they slipped on something that felt like grease and fell SPLAT!!!!!!!!!

Stacey had a broken arm and fractured rib and Jane had a broken leg and fractured skull and they both had to stay inside and do nothing for quite a long time as much as they hated it.
 

Chapter 9
              The Plan
The day after Jane and Stacey came back to school “The Question” had a meeting to discuss and idea that Dianna had come up with.

Dianna’s idea was that Cordelia spreads around the her brother let her look after his Sydney Funnel Web Spider and she’d brought it to school.  Dianna then said that she hoped that Sam would hear and try to nab it so he can use it for a trick.

Some of them hide in the bagroom with cameras and someone to follow Sam around, then he walks into the bagroom, goes towards Cordelia’s bag and

He’s caught!!!

Everyone liked the idea and a few weeks later the plan was put into action.
 

Chapter 10
            Action and the Culprit
The plan was put into action two weeks after the meeting.

Dianna, Anne, Ruby, Jane and Stacey were hiding in the bagroom.

Jane and Ruby were on the shelves above the pegs with cameras.  Anne and Dianna were hiding behind the … also with cameras and Stacey was lookout.

Cordelia (who was actually Sam’s ex-girlfriend and who Sam secretly loved) got the job to follow Sam.

After about ten minutes Sam guessed that it would be safe to sneak in.  So off he went not noticing Cordelia behind him.

When he reached the bagroom he raced to Cordelia’s bag (which really only had her lunch in it) and

Went the cameras and run, run, run went Sam.

The day after school “The Question” held a meeting to discuss how to confront Sam.

They decided to stick the pictures on some cardboard, get Cordelia to lead Sam to them and make him confess and tape the confession.
 

Chapter 11
            A Very Happy Ending
Three days later they had set everything up in the artroom.

Cordelia told Sam the art-teacher wanted to see him about his art.

When he walked in he tried to deny it but eventually broke down and confessed.  When they asked him why he played the pranks and stole the smells he said he played the pranks because they all had lots of friends and he had none but he denied everything about the flowers and smells.

Stacey said he had no friends because hey played tricks on everyone and they ended up hating him.

Eventually Sam turned over a new leaf and became quite a nice and polite boy with so many friends you’d never want more.  He also became part of “The Question” and never played tricks on people again.
